Is this different than Google Flights price alerts?

Accepted Answer

Google Flights tells you when a fare changes, but has no idea what you paid — so it alerts you about any movement, including on flights you already booked at a better price. FareTracker tracks against the actual price you paid and only emails you when the fare drops $20 or more. Every alert you get is money you can actually claim back as a travel credit.

Do you rebook the flight for me?

No — and that's intentional. We give you clear, airline-specific instructions to do it yourself. It takes about 5 minutes. This means we never need your personal info, your confirmation number, or access to your inbox.

What types of flights can I track?

Accepted Answer

Any flight booked at Main Cabin or higher — that includes Economy (non-basic), Premium Economy, Business, and First Class. The ticket must be booked directly with the airline (not through an OTA like Expedia or Kayak). Basic fares (basic economy, basic business, etc.) are excluded because airlines don't allow changes on those tickets, so there's no credit to claim — except where the airline rebooks a basic fare for free, which today is Southwest.

How much can I actually save?

It depends on the route and timing, but airfares fluctuate constantly. Domestic round-trips commonly see $30-100+ in price movement. When you rebook at a lower fare, the airline issues the difference as a travel credit (eCredit) good toward a future flight — not a cash refund. We've seen users earn over $200 in credits on a single international flight.

What data do you collect?

Only what you enter: airline, flight numbers, route, dates, cabin class, and the price you paid. We don't need your name, date of birth, phone number, confirmation number, or loyalty account info. We never access your email inbox.

Do I get cash back when the price drops?

Accepted Answer

Not exactly. When you rebook at a lower fare, the airline issues the difference as a travel credit — called an eCredit (Delta), Trip Credit (American), or similar. This credit is applied toward a future flight, typically valid for one year. It's not a cash refund, but it's real money you'll use the next time you fly.

Can I track flights booked with points or miles?

Not yet. FareTracker currently supports cash fares only on Delta, American, United, Southwest, and Alaska. Award ticket pricing is complex — each loyalty program handles repricing differently, and the data isn't reliably available through our price sources.
